Life after Skyros

One of the lasting benefits of a Skyros holiday is the friendships - and often the new social circles - that are formed. Participants say that when they meet anyone anywhere who has been to Skyros, they feel an immediate connection.

Session reunions, organised by participants back in the UK after their holiday together, are an integral part of life after Skyros and have a long-standing tradition. They range from dinner in a restaurant to long weekends in the countryside. 40-50 participants attending are not uncommon. Many people also continue with their Œkos group when they get back home by way of bridging the gap between their holiday and their everyday life.

The Grange

Home from home

There is also the opportunity to make your reunion arrangements a lot simpler and hold them within a ready-made Skyros-style atmosphere. The Grange on the Isle of Wight is a residential centre specialising in short breaks, and being an offshoot of Skyros has certain weekends throughout the year tailored towards reunions from all our centres. Its weekend courses are run by Skyros facilitators and they are offered to ex-Skyros participants at a 20% discount.

The Isle of Wight, only two hours away from London's Waterloo station, is a gorgeous, unspoilt island. Half of it is nominated as an area of Outstanding Natural Beauty with lush green pastures, pristine streams and animal and bird sanctuaries. Its 500 miles of lovingly maintained footpaths along the coastline or through its colourful valleys are a walker's paradise. Facilities for cycling, yachting, horse riding and golfing are all within easy reach. The island is accessible through excellent rail and ferry links from Portsmouth and Southampton.

The Grange, a beautiful Georgian country house, is in the charming Old Village of Shanklin on the east coast of the Isle of Wight. Nestled in greenery, it is very secluded. Yet it's only moments from the picturesque thatched pubs and cosy tea rooms, the local train station, shops and restaurants and, best of all, the long sandy beach.

Visitors can certainly take it easy here – relax, sleep deeply, enjoy a meandering walk down to the beach and breathe in the fresh sea air. To increase the feel-good factor, they can also book a massage and/or beauty treatments or opt for one-to-one tuition in a subject of their choice.

The Grange offers a wide variety of weekend courses with exceptional facilitators including award-winning authors, leading life coaches and outstanding singers and yoga teachers. Taking a short course at The Grange is a great way to try something different, meet interesting people and possibly return home with newly discovered talents and possibilities!

So close to London, The Grange can easily become a favourite destination for a short break or, even better, ‘home from home’ as one course participant was pleased to discover.

The Grange, which has been awarded the AA’s Four Star Guest Accommodation grading, has 17 newly refurbished bedrooms. Soothing and comfortable, each one of them is elegantly decorated in natural tones mirroring the surrounding environment. Newly fitted power showers and complementary luxury toiletries ensure a good start to each day.
